November 2009 Archives
It's no secret that I have a soft spot for italo disco brought on by spending much of 1985 traveling in Europe. I recently rediscovered Baby's Gang which released a single album entitled "Challenger" on Memory Records in 1985 that included their hits Challenger, Happy Song (with Boney M), America and My Little Japanese Boy. In 1988 they made a brief return as "Denise and Baby's Gang" with the single "Disco Maniac." You can score the mp3's for "America" and "My Little Japanese Boy" on DiscoWorkout.com and join me as a member of their Facebook Fan Club.

More of my shots from Thanksgiving Day at the San Francisco Naval Shipyard at Hunters Point can be seen here.
My theme song for the past week has been Kate Bush's "Lily." I hadn't heard it in possibly years, except for when it recently began playing in my head, surprisingly, with increasing frequency, at the most surprising times, as if I was being directed, like guidance from the angels.

The abandoned main home of this location has certainly seen better days. A few more shots including the cop car that came to greet us.
Deaf Center are two Norwegian friends, Erik Skodvin and Otto Totland. They released the "Neon City EP", soon followed by a full length album entitled "Pale Ravine." Lovely listening from the Northern lands.

The Greyhound Maintenance Center was once the spot for Greyhound busses and workers to get refreshed and regrouped before heading back out on the highway. The San Francisco site was abandoned in July. I have a few more shots here.

Steve and Quinn enjoy Bob's delicious late night donuts on Polk Street.
