October 2009 Archives
A new favorite band is School of Seven Bells featuring twin vocalists Alejandra and Claudia Deheza along with Benjamin Curtis. They're from Brooklyn, New York. Their debut album "Alpinisms" is out now on Ghostly International Records, one of my favorite labels.
Speaking of outer space, I accidentally ran across this little gem recently from 1983 produced by Maurice Cavalieri. I have no idea if this was the original video that went with this song or not. I haven't been able to find out much more than this about it.

These intergalactic space babes showed up in the back of my cab after Remember The Party's "Close Encounters of the Disco Kind" at the old Trocadero.
One of my favorite bands is Marconi Union. Their releases "Distance" and "A Lost Connection" are candlelit ambient masterpieces. While at times more upbeat, their new release "Tokyo" is no exception. This two minute highlight from the opening track "Ginza District" is, I believe, their first official video. Listen to more on their MySpace.
